  21. SAN JOSE, CA -- September 7, 1994 -- Frame Technology today announced
  22. the availability of FrameMaker for NEXTSTEPTM. Now NEXTSTEP users
  23. can run the award-winning desktop authoring and publishing software
  24. on HP PA-RISC Series 700 workstations and 486 and Pentium PCs with
  25. Intel processors, as well as NeXT computers. All three platforms
  26. are included on one disk set in this newest version of FrameMaker,
  27. based on FrameMaker 3 for NeXT.

  30. contribute to the success of NEXTSTEP in the marketplace and attract
  31. more users," said Steven P. Jobs, chairman and CEO of NeXT Computer,
  32. Inc. "With Frame's experience in multiplatform environments,
  33. FrameMaker will integrate seamlessly into the NEXTSTEP environment."

  35. For customers like McCaw Cellular, FrameMaker's compatibility across
  36. a wide variety of environments is a strong point. "FrameMaker is
  37. a company standard and the primary tool we use for technical
  38. documentation and operational user guides," said Jonathan Weeks,
  39. technical architect at McCaw Cellular. "One of the best aspects of
  40. the program is that FrameMaker is available on so many platforms,
  41. so we can easily share documents between multiple authors and
  42. increase our overall efficiency."

  45. Advanced Product Features

  47. FrameMaker software combines word processing, page layout, graphics,
  48. equations, conditional text, tables and book-building tools for
  49. creating a wide range of publications, from lengthy technical
  50. manuals, to reports, newsletters and presentations. Advanced features
  51. in FrameMaker for NEXTSTEP include integration with NEXTSTEP's
  52. Digital Librarian, and Webster's Dictionary and Thesaurus. With
  53. FrameMaker for NEXTSTEP, customers also receive -- as a bonus --
  54. international-language dictionaries providing spelling and hyphenation
  55. support for French, German, Italian, Spanish, U.K. and U.S. English,
  56. Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish (hyphenation
  57. only), Norwegian and Swedish languages.

  60. growing demand from customers, and on our commitment to support
  61. the industry's leading computing environments," said William R.

  63. version using our successful FrameMaker for NeXT product as a base,
  64. we were able to make it available to NEXTSTEP users much sooner
  65. than if we had waited for future FrameMaker architecture."

  70. Through October 31, 1994, Frame will be offering an introductory
  71. price for new and upgraded single-user licenses. A new FrameMaker
  72. for NEXTSTEP single-user license is priced at US$995 (MSRP). Also
  73. through October 31, 1994, single-user upgrades are priced at US$495
  74. (MSRP) for those customers who wish to switch from FrameMaker 3
  75. running on NeXT computers to HP PA-RISC or Intel-based 486 and
  76. Pentium computers.

  78. After October 31, 1994, regular pricing for single-user FrameMaker
  79. licenses for NEXTSTEP will be US$1,495 (MSRP), with single-user
  80. upgrades priced at US$795 (MSRP).

  83. System Requirements

  85. The minimum system requirements for FrameMaker on standard NEXTSTEP
  86. configurations include: NEXTSTEP Release 3.2 software, 25 MB of
  87. free disk space, and 16 MB of RAM (24 MB recommended).

  89. Customers in the U.S. and Canada who wish to extend beyond their
  90. 30 days of free technical support can purchase a one-year Technical
  91. Support Subscription for US$300, directly from Frame. FrameMaker
  92. for NEXTSTEP is available directly from Frame as well as through
  93. Frame Registered Resellers.
